Truck modification design [18 Jan 2006|11:29am]

abelles02
Hi, I'm new here. Anyways, I'm in a design class and I was wondering if you truck owners out there could help me as I'm away at college and the truck is at home. I'm working on senior project and I need to draw the back end of a truck to complete my project. However there are some things I am lacking. The tailgate: you know the latches that allow the tailgate to close and stay closed? I could use a picture of the latch mechanism on both the tailgate and the corresponding truck bed. I could also use a set of measurments so location could be easy for me.

Please any help would be appreciated.

why i'm going to hell [02 Oct 2005|01:15am]

i'm looking for info about the stock motor of this truck. it's an 86 305 small block, and everything is stock right now... who know's what stock IS for this car? i've looked all over online, and can't find what i need. any and all info, no matter how bonehead it may seem, is welcome and encouraged.

also: i took her to the suspension shop to look into a noise in the front left wheel well when i make sharp turns; the tire shows signs of rubbing along the outer edge, and his suggestion was the shave the inside of the fender, where the metal curls up.
i hate this suggestion.
i like my metal, and prefer that it stay the way it is.
any suggestions?

Gas :'( [02 Sep 2005|11:10pm]

[ mood | OH POOR CAR ]

Okay, yes, I KNOW that this is an outrageously stupid question, but do you think that attaching fins to my car would make it more aerodynamic? Gas in my neighborhood rose $1.50 in the last four days and I am trying to look for ways to decrease my gas consumption. Since I can't think of a way to make my clunky shit car perfectly ovoid...

PS, I have a 1999 maroon GMC Jimmy and I love it with all my heart, but I swear to God I'm going to be pushing it soon if the gas prices keep rising. :'(

New here... [20 Jun 2005|11:31am]

I'm new here... I have a '90 S-10 Blazer that I bought for hunting. Been doing a little work on it and just got the brilliant idea of looking for a community in which to maybe get some info... so.. here I am.

Yesterday, took out the headliner to try to get the fabric to stay back up (doesn't look like that will be working well... ) In the process, the headliner board got a little bit damaged... not terribly ripped up, or anything, but.. a little damaged...

So here's my concept... I'm thinking about laying a single layer of fiberglass all over the headliner board, then gluing the new fabric that I will be purchasing onto the fiberglass.

Any reasons why this sounds like a bad idea? My one concern was that the thin shell of fiberglass might crack when the board flexes. but I can't see it flexing far enough to cause that...

01 Blazer [06 Apr 2005|02:03am]

[ mood | bored ]

Hello. I am new here and wanted to share my Blazer and get some feedback and ideas. I will introduce myself first though. My name is Amanda, I am 21 and live in Michigan.
I bought my Blazer last year and for the most part love it. Found out that they had some paint defects YAY and have stone chip city on my passenger side. I am waiting till my road is paved to repaint it but its going to need it sooner I think. Since I bought it I have put some serious $$ into it though. I havent dont much to the engine b/c it has the worst V6 SUV mileage I have seen and dont want to make it worse. All the engine has is a K&N cold air intake. Exterior mods are clear tails, clear headlights (which suck to find with intergrated fog lights!), speed grille etc. I have a ram air hood in waiting and a full Xenon body kit with the air dam upgrade but am not sure about the body kit. Interior I have an intergrated Beltronics radar detector (filled the stock tape deck hole well), AVIC N1 DVD HU, 2 Directed monitors in the headrests, Directed 1500D class D amp, 2 12inch Kicker L7s in a vinyl box (had 15 rounds that were louder I think but I needed the smaller box) And thats about it. I pretty much am going to just stick with getting the stuff on (if i decide to still I might get a 2002 trail blazer front end), painted (want the handles green also b/c the black sticks out to me) and thats about that. Any ideas of more things that I should do?

whats up every one. i have a 1974 blazer. i,m tryin to make it street so i bought some rims but the ones up front dont fit. so now i got to decide if i should take back the 16 to get 15 (i was told by american racing that the 15 will fit for shure). but i want to ask your opinions. i seen some vehicles with bigger wheels in the back and smaller in the front. i like how that looks and i was thinkin that i might keep the 16 for the back and exchange the front rim for 15. i havent seen any truck like that so please give me your suggestions or pics if you got any.

Chevy Silverado 4x4 Diesel, Dallas TX area [15 Feb 2005|10:54am]

[ mood | chipper ]

1983 Chevy Silverado Blazer 4x4. 19,000 miles on rebuilt engine. This is a DIESEL, so you can idle forever, and it never overheats! Gets great gas milage. Needs some work. Runs VERY strong! Body is in great shape, has NEVER been in an accident. Only needs some cosmetic touch ups. Amazing engine!! Hard top roof can come off for summer fun. Automatic windows, New battery, New wiper blades, Blue interior, Blue exterior with white roof. Only asking $2,500!!!! Email NOW, before its gone! I can email pics. This is a great deal on a GREAT Blazer!! This Chevy will climb anything, race over snow, sand, mudd, and anything else in its way! I'm in North Dallas near George Bush and Dallas Tollway area.

I hate to part with ole' Blue, it is an awesome vehicle, but it has set for about a year now. Someone needs to take it out in the snow and mud! Had it checked over and here is what I've found that it needs:
Mechanics estimated about $500 worth of needed repairs: headlamp & backup light bulb, hoses (optional, replaced a year ago, but sat unused for a year), oil gasket (small leak), air intake hose, rear left brake line (is ok now, but will need to be looked at), windshield wiper switch (wipers work, but something is loose in switch), coolant sensor, and a fluid flush (again, sat a year).

Thats all that I know of, and we've had 2 mechanics check it out. Pretty minor stuff. Come out and hear this engine! You'll fall in love!

My Blazer [08 Nov 2004|12:52pm]

ragingwolf51ny
Hello,

I'm new here to Livejournal.com, and I saw that there is finally a site dedicated to trucks and SUVs. I have a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer that is fully blacked out and customized. Because it is a lease, I can't do EVERYTHING I wanted to do to it, but I do have a CAI and Flowmaster 40 exhaust system. I would consider my driving style "spirited", as being an NYPD E.V.O.C (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) graduate allows me to do all kinds of crazy shit. Feel free to look at my truck and post a reply.

PEACE,
Ragingwolf51NY

My name is Amber. I am 19 and live in Sumter, SC. I have a 1988 Chevy S10 Blazer. Lemme describe it:
Custom purple paint job
Custom purple ghost flames on hood (designed by me)
Custom hood scoop made by me
Bustom black interior with purple trim
Thrush glass pack muffler
Aiwa Cd player
Pioneer speakers

It has a 2.8 V6 and it is 4 wheel drive. What are some more things maybe I can do to make it run better, look better, etc? I am planning on putting a 2 inch body lift with Thornbird mud tires, cold air intake, set of headers... so many things. Please help me out!!!!!
